Load transfer to laterally supported thin-walled Z-section beams

Abstract

The behaviour of thin-walled Z-section beams, laterally restrained along the flange by trapezoidal steel sheeting, is analyzed for the gravity load and uplift load. The gravity load transfer alternative defined in Eurocode 3 (EN 1993-1-3), and the alternative based on beam flange deformation analysis, are considered for the gravity load. The gravity and uplift load transfer alternatives enabling the best possible load situation in beams are also considered.
